Guest Chef at Pat Crowley House and Nathalie Salmon House

Locations: Pat Crowley House, 1537 W. Rosemont, Chicago and Nathalie Salmon House, 7320 N. Sheridan, Chicago

Time commitment/schedule:  On a Saturday or Sunday. Dinner starts at 4:30 pm or prepare a brunch on a Sunday at 11:30. Come ahead of time, depending on how long you need to prepare the food.

Cook and serve a meal (with dessert, if possible) for eight to twelve seniors and eat with our residents. You can either bring food that you have already prepared, cook it from scratch or bring purchased meals. The essential is that the seniors have something nice to eat for dinner or brunch. They like hearty dishes, preferably with meat, and they love chocolate. You don't need to clean up afterwards. The seniors like to talk and share their experiences with others so you are encouraged to stay and play games with the residents or watch a movie with them. But most of all have fun! Enjoy and benefit from your time with the seniors. When you are done you can tap yourself on the back– you did it!

If you’re low on budget, we can try to put together a meal from what we have available at the house.

Qualifications: Do you like cooking? Normally two to six volunteers are adequate, at least one adult. You are very welcome and encouraged to bring friends and family members to prepare and join dinner.
