Giving Tuesday Impact Series: Velma shops with Ernest

Our Shopping Bus helps seniors living in affordable senior buildings all throughout Chicago. Our bus driver Ernest is beloved by riders who he helps to get from their residence to grocery stores where they can shop for groceries, medication, and household items.

96-year-old Velma loves this program, and Ernest. She says, "I'm not too steady on my feet so one day I asked Ernest to help me [around the store] and he's helped me ever since."

Giving Tuesday Impact Series: Debbie has brothers and sisters at Good Life Senior Residences

Debbie moved to Chicago seven years ago to be nearer to her son, Cliff.

Before moving to Chicago she had been living with her sister in San Diego, where she moved from Virginia Beach to help take care of her mother.

Then suddenly, she suffered from an unexplained brain injury that left her with mobility and speech impairments. As she was recovering, Cliff wanted her to be close by so that he could help her as much as he was able.

Giving Tuesday Impact Series: Loretta is H.O.M.E. for the holidays

Two years ago, Loretta was a frequent visitor to the hospital. She was admitted every six months or so for exasperated COPD or pneumonia.

She can breathe easier now because of people like you and she wants you to know her story.
