What I learned from Good Life residents

It feels like the summer has just started, but unfortunately the time for me to say goodbye has come. These past seven weeks have gone by so much faster than I expected.

I am so thankful and blessed to have worked alongside coworkers who were willing to let me take part in their role in the company and with residents who were willing to open their home to me.

How do housing conditions impact your well-being?

What are you doing for self-care? Does this question make you squirm, make your palms sweat or cause your mind to go blank, wondering how to answer? 

There are three April holidays or observances that are related to self-care: National Humor Month, Stress Awareness Month and Physical Wellness Month.

Did you know there are fifty plus national holidays/observances that are honored in April? Who knew there are so many! I didn’t. I do need to confess, though, that my eye was drawn to April being National Licorice Month. I will look into that later as part of my self-care.

Affordable housing for seniors is the foundation for aging well

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Just as Dorothy and friends walked down the yellow brick road, wondering what they would run into, anyone looking for affordable senior housing might wonder the same thing, when trying to “walk” the maze of options, or lack thereof.

With so few options one has to ask, is there even an awareness that older adults struggle to locate and secure affordable housing, particularly affordable housing with supportive services?
