During my time as the summer intern for H.O.M.E. I've had the opportunity to join Good Life senior residents from the Intergenerational Houses on some of their outings. During these outings I've been able to see how important community is for seniors and how much they love to engage with those around them.
Senior Moments from H.O.M.E.
Last week, YouthWorks volunteers from a youth group in Iowa came to help the Chicago Community. YouthWorks brought around 70 students to Chicago, some of whom partnered with H.O.M.E. During their week here, YouthWorks helped by painting the homes of senior homeowners.
This past April, a new resident, Joan, moved into the Pat Crowley House.
This summer, H.O.M.E is partnering with Glenwood Sunday Market (GSM) for the fourth year in a row, which we are very excited about. In previous years, H.O.M.E. partnered with GSM to share information about who we are to market goers, along with accepting food donations from market goers.
Rather than solely attending the Farmers Market like in previous years, this year we were invited to partner with GSM's Community Shares Program.
