It was once again a busy week full of volunteers for the Good Life residents. The seniors at Pat Crowley House were glad to have Lisa again, the substitute cook who already came on Monday before and who surprised them with her extraordinary cooking skills. The residents looked forward to having beef tips with pasta and a homemade chocolate cake for dinner - and Lisa was happy about the 'thank you' card they've had prepared for her. We'd love to see you again, Lisa!
One day later, on Saturday, the 'Friends of Lindsay' guest chefs came and one of them brought her 9 year old son to celebrate his birthday with the seniors. They were playing Bingo with the residents and providing musical entertainment (nice piano playing) before they served Tilapia with a Thai curry sauce and a huge red velvet birthday cake for dessert. Thanks so much for coming and sharing your time with us, it means a lot to the seniors.
The next day, George and Debbie from Chicago Cares arrived in the afternoon and brought volunteers to make another delicious dinner, including an entrée salad, Rotisserie chicken and key lime pie with fruit to finish it up. It is always a highlight for the residents when those guest chefs come - they share stories, entertain and just have a good time at the table together. Later that day, Anna Wilson came and prepared lots of ready-to-warm-up meals for the week; she really is a huge help for us. We highly appreciate the time and effort you have dedicated to Pat Crowley House!
On Tuesday, the Search, Inc. volunteers and PACTT payed a visit to take out the garbage and clean the sofas in the seniors' living rooms. One day later, personal trainer Vincent came to engage the resident in some weight training to keep them fit.
There's a lot going on and you are very welcome to join us. Click the button below to find out more! (Hint: We are still in need for personal shoppers and substitute cooks while our regular cook is out on leave.
