Legacy of Independence

Have you considered what you want your legacy to be? Thoughtfully planned, any of the following giving options may provide important personal benefits while benefiting seniors for many years to come:

  • Include a bequest to H.O.M.E. in your Will or Revocable Trust

  • Designate H.O.M.E. as a beneficiary of your Retirement Assets - IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or pension

  • Name H.O.M.E. as a beneficiary of your Life Insurance policy

How to Make a Bequest

A bequest is a form of giving accomplished by including a few sentences in your will. If you’ve already created your will, your attorney can easily make an amendment, called a codicil.

The suggested bequest language for Housing Opportunities & Maintenance for the Elderly (H.O.M.E.) is: "I give to H.O.M.E., an Illinois non-profit organization, whose present address is 1419 West Carroll Avenue, FL2, Chicago, Illinois 60607, and its successors forever, the sum of $___ (or a percentage of the estate) (or the description of property or stock, etc.) to be used in such a manner as its Board of Directors determines.”

If you have already included H.O.M.E. in your charitable plans and have not yet notified us, please let us know by calling us at 773-921-3200 or filling out our declaration of intent form. We would enjoy the opportunity to thank you and would like to make sure your intentions are carried out properly.

Please visit the “Legacy of Independence” page which honors and thanks those individuals who have made a planned gift to H.O.M.E.
