Volunteers from Nuveen

Fourteen volunteers from Nuveen Investments packed approximately 29,000 pounds of cantaloupes at the Greater Chicago Food Depository and their volunteer hours are being credited to H.O.M.E. so that we and the elderly population we serve will benefit from their sweat equity.  The donation of all that perishable fresh fruit required that it be processed, picked over and boxed for immediate delivery. The Nuveen volunteers and a few other volunteers from another group packed almost 2,000 lbs. of melons each. H.O.M.E. gets credit for the volunteers and we use those to purchase food to feed our shared living residents.
