According to the 2005 U.S. Follow Up Census, there are over 50,000 seniors in Chicago living below the poverty level. Here's how H.O.M.E.'s programs and services made a difference.
In fiscal year 2008 alone, H.O.M.E.:
- Moved 230 seniors to new homes
- Delivered furniture to 998 seniors
- Made 778 household repairs for senior homeowners living in low-income neighborhoods
- Housed nearly 75 elderly residents in our three intergenerational homes
- Provided over 4,800 trips on our bus to take seniors shopping
- Benefited from a pool of nearly 700 volunteers who helped improve the quality of life for many low-income seniors
